Summary

"Children are not the only ones that need to learn how to be truly happy。 It’s all in the bucket, that invisible bucket that follows you everywhere。。。 teaches young readers valuable lessons about giving, sharing, and caring。 This guide to daily happiness, though, is not just for kids。 We all need reminders of the benefits of positive thinking and positive behavior。 It’s an important lesson to teach and remind us all 。 。 。 that showing kindness and appreciation of others goes a long way to making this world a happier place for everyone, including ourselves。 A classic tale, beautifully told and beautifully shared。" —Emily-Jane Hills Orford, Readers' Favorite Book Reviews

While using a simple metaphor of a bucket and a dipper, author Carol McCloud illustrates that when we choose to be kind, we not only fill the buckets of those around us, but also fill our OWN bucket! Conversely, when we choose to say or do mean things, we are dipping into buckets。 All day long, we are either filling up or dipping into each other's buckets by what we say and what we do。 When you're a bucket filler, you make the world a better place to be! This 32-page picture book is perfect for children, parents, grandparents, teachers and people that want to teach empathy, nurture kindness and create a positive environment in their home, classroom, workplace and community。

GREAT book for kids about kindness!

The story, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today” shouts out the message for each one of us to be a shining star that encourages and uplifts each other by doing good deeds of kindness and thoughtfulness。 When our immediate community supports, protects, and encourages us, our lives have purpose and we want to thrive。 People need each other。 We need affirmation and acceptance。 These rays of hope give us fulfillment。 In return, we want to help others become shining stars too。“Have You Filled a Bucket Tod The story, “Have You Filled a Bucket Today” shouts out the message for each one of us to be a shining star that encourages and uplifts each other by doing good deeds of kindness and thoughtfulness。 When our immediate community supports, protects, and encourages us, our lives have purpose and we want to thrive。 People need each other。 We need affirmation and acceptance。 These rays of hope give us fulfillment。 In return, we want to help others become shining stars too。“Have You Filled a Bucket Today” rings loud and clear, that if each one of us reaches out to cheer, reassure, and enrich each other, painful actions of jealousy, insults, keeping records of wrong, and rudeness to name a few, would wither away。 Children learn from all ages and stages of people。 “Have You Filled a Bucket Today” is aspiring to children young and old。 。。。more

This is one of my favorite SEL (Social Emotional Learning) books for kids。 Author Carol McCloud embraces the metaphor of bucket filling as a valuable life lesson。 Although it might seem rather straightforward, this book with lovely illustrations by David Messing models the idea of bucket filling with ease, guaranteed to put a smile on your face no matter what your age might be。

Have You Filled a Bucket Today was written by Carol McCloud and illustrated by David Messing。 It was published on May 1, 2006 by Nelson Publishing and Marketing。 This book is a fiction children’s book。 I love reading this book and I think this would be a great book for students to hear。 I love the meaning behind the book about kindness。 I also like how the illustrations are very diverse and not specific to one。 This will be a book I read aloud in the classroom because I think it is important to Have You Filled a Bucket Today was written by Carol McCloud and illustrated by David Messing。 It was published on May 1, 2006 by Nelson Publishing and Marketing。 This book is a fiction children’s book。 I love reading this book and I think this would be a great book for students to hear。 I love the meaning behind the book about kindness。 I also like how the illustrations are very diverse and not specific to one。 This will be a book I read aloud in the classroom because I think it is important to talk about filling people’s buckets and understanding what makes your bucket full。 I want the students in the classroom to understand how important it is to be kind to someone。 。。。more

Gave the kids a way to language by which they can understand why others and themselves act the way they do, and ways to fill a bucket when they see others being sad。

Genre: Contemporary Realistic fictionGrade level: K-3rd This book as always been one of my favorites growing up。 I remember one of my own teachers reading it in class, and when we were asked to bring in one of our favorite books, this one came to mind pretty quickly。 It has such a great lesson behind it, and the visual of a “filling a bucket” is so neat because this makes it easier for young children to understand。 I think it would be fun to read this book at the beginning of the school year and Genre: Contemporary Realistic fictionGrade level: K-3rd This book as always been one of my favorites growing up。 I remember one of my own teachers reading it in class, and when we were asked to bring in one of our favorite books, this one came to mind pretty quickly。 It has such a great lesson behind it, and the visual of a “filling a bucket” is so neat because this makes it easier for young children to understand。 I think it would be fun to read this book at the beginning of the school year and have a bucket for each student somewhere in the classroom。 Each time you see a student “filling up a bucket” to add something to it & for it eventually to be full & they could receive an incentive。 。。。more

Great way to show the importance of kindness, but the overuse of the word bucket drove me crazy。

Watched a video of this book for a girl scout troop meeting。 Such a great way to think about being kind and considerate。 It helps kids understand what it means to fill versus dip into a bucket by being kind versus being mean。

This is a book I will read to my future students, I absolutely loved this book and thought it showed how little it takes to be kind and how big of an effect kindness can have on someone。 If you're looking for a pick me up kind of book I would read this one over and over again。 This is a book I will read to my future students, I absolutely loved this book and thought it showed how little it takes to be kind and how big of an effect kindness can have on someone。 If you're looking for a pick me up kind of book I would read this one over and over again。 。。。more

This book is so sweet and gives so many applicable ways to fill someone's bucket。 It says how you feel good when you fill someone else's bucket, and it ends up filling yours too。 Tell people you love them and why because your caring words will fill up people's buckets with joy。 If you practice, you will become an excellent bucket filler。 Just remember, everyone has an invisible bucket that needs to be filled。 I love how it emphasizes to fill someone else's bucket despite their age。 It helps stud This book is so sweet and gives so many applicable ways to fill someone's bucket。 It says how you feel good when you fill someone else's bucket, and it ends up filling yours too。 Tell people you love them and why because your caring words will fill up people's buckets with joy。 If you practice, you will become an excellent bucket filler。 Just remember, everyone has an invisible bucket that needs to be filled。 I love how it emphasizes to fill someone else's bucket despite their age。 It helps students realize that everyone needs to be a bucket filler, no matter how old they are。 。。。more

This book is a great resource to use when teaching children about making a change or difference。 This is a lesson students can apply outside of the classroom and can remember as they grow throughout the years。

This is a book I think all parents, guardians, teachers, etc should read。 It is a fantastic story about being kind to others especially when they need it。 As people we never know what each other are going through so it's always important to treat people with kindness! I have heard about this book, and I heard it referenced in Tom Rath's "It's Not About You: A Brief Guide to a Meaningful Life" so I decided to look it up on Youtube。 Even though this is a children's picture book, there are important lessons in it that adults can learn from as well。 I appreciate the analogy of how we each have an invisible bucket, and we fill or deplete other peoples buckets by our words and actions。 Its a great way to think about how to put others needs before your own。 I recomm I have heard about this book, and I heard it referenced in Tom Rath's "It's Not About You: A Brief Guide to a Meaningful Life" so I decided to look it up on Youtube。 Even though this is a children's picture book, there are important lessons in it that adults can learn from as well。 I appreciate the analogy of how we each have an invisible bucket, and we fill or deplete other peoples buckets by our words and actions。 Its a great way to think about how to put others needs before your own。 I recommend this for parents who wish to teach their children about being kind to others, or anyway who wants to learn how they can just be better to those around them。 。。。more
